@Astraea52 "virtuosic" is the perfect word for this piece .. reminds me a little of Chopin! I couldn't agree with you more. This is my favorite piece by Mr. Gottschalk. I love the Spanish flavor in it. I do wonder if Gottschalk had Chopin in mind when he wrote it?
@katherinejames I believe the pianist's name is Ivan Davis. I have this recording on a old cassette, late 1980's to early 1990's, which was a compilation of virtuosic piano pieces. Hope this helps.
Best interpretation overall ! (I dare to point at mine as a comparison). So tasteful and truly beautiful ! i dont think there's a single nuance or passage i might disagree with the (unknonwn) interpreter. The recording is just about perfect.
