Blackberry Blossom is right up there towards the top of the heap of fiddle tunes that are way overplayed. Love it or hate it here is an example of it.
The trick to making this tune sound like a musical performance as opposed to an exercise is to give it a bit of that shoulder-shrugging fiddle bounce. Either way it's a good exercise in alternate picking.

This video runs through the melody twice, once fast and once slow, followed up by an example of one possible chord progression that could be played behind it.

  • this shit is so fuckin hard do u have a tab? really rad tune tho tryin to learn more that style

  • @asscunt567

    Tab is at seanray.com

  • hey there, I have been working on this for months, and just posted a really crappy video response, nothing like your cool original...thanks for posting and helping all of us limited pickers!

  • Right on!

That's kind of freaky seeing you play my arrangement note for note but I dig it.

See, who needs tab when you have ears & eyes?

  • I hope you know that now they're gonna be a whole bunch of pickers doing your exact (if they're lucky) version of B^2 ! I've been playing this tune for 5+ yrs & you've given me some nice ideas of stuff to add to it. I like the early beat occurring at the 37 second mark and you use it somewhere else as well.

Also- Possibly the best camera angle for tutorial stuff. Just too bad you couldn't afford to buy dot markers for that sweet sounding guitar. What type of box is that anyway?? Thx, Will.

  • Thanks Will,

It's a Santa Cruz Tony Rice model.

  • @ludwigtrap Man, it's going to be kind of freaky telling you your arrangement is almost EXACTLY the same as the way I play it. Maybe a change of 3 notes? if that lol. I saw this and kind of flipped out for a second.

  • im 13 and i learn this all in one day ( 20 mins to be exact )

  • Slow version begins :46 in.

  • @asscunt567 Hard ? this quite simple . hard songs are songs by people like Justin King or john5

  • How the heck could anyone dislike this?

  • To the guy asking about the key. theres a G and C and Em and D and Am these are common to both G and C keys , buts its the F# 1/2dim type thing after the Em that throws it into the key of G cause the key of C would have an F and not an F#........ and the song seems to start and end on G...............I believe

  • if you know your top end which anyone attempting this had better know , its far easier to learn this stuff by watching and listening .Tab really has no point of reference cause you cant hear a tab. This guy has a ton of these little vids and the way he positions the camera is perfect. Im sorry guys but tab is flab and watch ,listen and learn is the best method.....nice work and thanks alot ludwigtrap

  • i picked this song up in like a half hour. not really that tough. but it is a great song
