  • Jennifer, you've got to repeat this one! The recording skipped a during the second whistling passage, and got very jerky later. It would be wonderful to hear you with better sound reproduction, too.

When I performed this one, I was lucky that my collaborating pianist could whistle, and very well, too. I can't whistle for beans ... have a major third whistling range, max.

  • Yes, the person who recorded this had to do so on a small digital camera because the video recorder wouldn't work. If I get the chance to perform it again, I will definitely get a better recording!

  • Quite good... Although I have always heard the A of Memories incredibly rushed.. If I'm not mistaken, it says as fast as it can go, or something like that. But other than that, very good.

  • Yes, I realize that it should have been faster! I was a bit nervous about getting all of the words out, but realize now that I could have taken the a section a lot quicker.

    Thanks a bunch!

  • "Curtain!" My favorite part of the song, and of course the section after that :) great job!

  • Has anyone heard the version by the San Francisco Symphony and Chorus? they did a recording called An American Jounry, its a great version of this song

  • Great job on this song. Sometimes it's hard to make that switch. I'm doing an Ives set for my senior recital. Does anybody know where to find a video of someone singing "The Cage", "Immortality", "Berceuse", "Autumn", or "At the River"?

  • Oh lovely! Thank you. What about Grove, Rove, Night Delight? My favourite.

  • Why is it that every singer I have heard doing the final song vocalises on the 'u' of 'humming' rather than the 'm'? Clearly the singer is supposed to hum at this point. I realise that humming is probably more difficult than vocalising on the 'u', but the score is quite clear: the word is written 'hum - ming'. Sorry to be negative, because it's great to hear a singer performing Ives, but this does annoy me! :)
