  • This is one of my favourite records and is one of the superb set of piano solos Willie recorded for Commodore in 1939. Like the others recorded on that occasion, it's his own composition. There is something so pastoral about this tune but also so urbane; like experiencing the coming Spring but in Central Park

  • One man still love the winter !!! ;)

  • this is the one of the most favorite tune!!!!!

  • @RobeGre I don't think anyone could have described it better.

  • There's something about this that makes it sound like Liszt's Liebstraum, only faster and more swingy.

  • This is quite a great song and performance. I can't believe there are people correcting the man who wrote the song on his interpretation. That's a little goofy. It's also strange that somebody else playing the song has more views than the original. Nevertheless, it's a great song by a great pianist.

  • That left hand paints the hustle and bustle of city life whereas the right hand paints the excitement of escaping the city on the undergound to nearby parks, surburbia, and tranquility..... too much red wine; burp....

  • @licoricestic

These stride piano players sure were educated musicians. I'd say that French modern music : Chopin (Polish but living the most of his life in France), Debussy, Ravel, Poulenc, was the main influence on jazz apart from the gospel/blues/spiritual. I can't see anything German or Russian in jazz until Bill Evans came.

  • fancy. reminds me of debussy's 2nd arabesque.

  • the one disliker is either just trying to provoke or just a person without a musical soul, even if you look beyond opinions.
