This delightful fantasy opera was created by Maurice Sendak from his book of the same title in collaboration with composer Oliver Knussen.

Sendak's sets and costumes bring to life the huge and terrible, yet also lovable, monsters that Max, the child, conjures up in his bedroom. In his fantasy world of forest and sea, he sails to the Land of The Wild Things.

  • Where can I find or buy this recording?

  • I saw both of these as a kid and YES, they did freak me the hell out and give me nightmares at the time. Wait, who am I kidding? This still makes me want to crap myself.

  • um..ok this is the most disturbing crap I've ever seen..the most gayest thing EVER! i can't even look at those things without laughing..how is this a little kids movie? if I saw this when I was little I'd have nightmares of creepey monster pedophiles and weird mentally ill kid in a bunny suit. This is wack.

  • Wow! "Higglety Pigglety Pop" was my favorite Sendak book, I never have seen either of these stories as a play! Thank you! Very cool! I look foward to the "..Wild Things..." movie~

  • I love you so much for posting this...I've been trying to find even a short clip to show people what I've been talking about...I don't know anyone else who has seen this opera, which is a shame.
