Kultur Celebrates Maurice Sendak's life (1928-2012) through our entertaining DVDs
This delightful fantasy opera was created by Maurice Sendak from his book of the same title in collaboration with composer Oliver Knussen.
Sendak's sets and costumes bring to life the huge and terrible, yet also lovable, monsters that Max, the child, conjures up in his bedroom. In his fantasy world of forest and sea, he sails to the Land of The Wild Things.

I saw both of these as a kid and YES, they did freak me the hell out and give me nightmares at the time. Wait, who am I kidding? This still makes me want to crap myself.

Out of interest you might want to check out this facebook 'page' ... "Rosemary Hardy Soprano/Actor". She not only saw the opera she was MAX. (Rosemary played in The original opera at Glyndbourne). Hope you like it.
