@Lordiboy14 Japan actually never surrender until after the 2nd atomic bomb. The US also decided to do this because if they decided to invade the USSR might gain control of Japan. Making them more powerful.

I should also add western Europe(Mostly Britain) encouraged the US to drop the bomb.

@ihavtugo Japan was already surrended. Japan have no way to win the war against the US. USA bombed Japan with two nuclear bombs why? To shot to the URSS that USA have a powerfull weapon because USA was afraid of the URSS. Am I right?

@Lordiboy14 Believe it or not but the people of Japan got a break with the two nuclear bombs. First of all they were warned that something like this could happen. And even after the first bomb they were warned that another one was going to be dropped on another city if Japan didn't surrender.

You should also learn some history. If the US didn't drop the atom bombs they would of invaded Japan from the south, Killing even more people. Plus the USSR was going to invade from the north.
