Riding the elevator at Dorothy Gebauer Hall. The elevator is pretty nice, with the cove lights and checker tile flooring.

Original Elevator Specs:
General-Otis/Geared Traction.
Performance-2500 Lbs/10 HP.
Distance-50 feet/4 floors & 150 FPM.
Year-Installed/1921-1922.

New Elevator specs:
General-Dover/Inground Hydraulic.
Performance-2500 Lbs/25 HP.
Distance-50 feet/4 floors & 100 FPM.
Year-Modernized/1998.

  • I have already done a retake of this as well, but I will upload it soon. I will keep this one, since this was one of my very first videos from 4 years ago, but I will add another one with the good camera.

  • When you pointed the camera to the ceiling, did you see the fan?

  • Yes, and since it was done in 1998, they could have gone with the MonoSpace elevator, since it came out in 1996. Also, they replace tractions with hydraulics, so they can have a larger elevator, without the space restrictions for traction counterweights, which is rather dumb.
