A movie about the life of a young lady named Jymena who lives in Batey Cuchilla, Dominican Republic. The movie reflects her daily routine and the challenges and strengths that she faces in the batey.

Filmmakers Livenski Talcius and Valerie Vilsaint attended the Global Potential cultural exchange program during the summer of 2009 in the Dominican Republic. Global Potential provides urban youth with the skills and perspective that enable them to effect positive change in their lives, communities, and the global community, through engagement in leadership training, social entrepreneurship, international cultural exchange and service learning. www.global-potential.org

  • Congratulations to the youth who made this film. It is well shot and edited, very informative, and a great tool for cross-cultural communication and awareness.

  • I do not see any violations happening, other than police harassing her, which happens in USA all day long. I think her life is as peaceful and easy as mine, but with less government interference. Nothing to feel sorry about here, only to envy.
