Since RAM actually refers to Random Access Memory - anything with memory that is randomly accessible (not serially) can be called RAM, hence the DVD-RAM name.
HD = a Hard Drive, typically meaning a mechanical storage device with platters and heads.
RAM = Volataile electronic storage on solid state memory (NAND)
FLASH: Solid State, Non Volataile memory, so still NAND, but holding data when theres no power.
the iPhone has 8Gb of Flash Memory, Solid state memory that is not a hard drive and is not technically ram (in its purest form) sometimes called Flash RAM.
flash is not the same as ram he ;)

You're both wrong.
