The website has a picture of Holt from a newspaper about Holt turning down an honorary doctorate... but I cannot find any reference to this and I've scoured the innerwebs. If anyone has a copy, or can help...? Maybe the library in that town has it on microfiche, if that's what they still use...

The photo I posted on the holtgws.com site is from an Associated Press report. You might get more info by going to Wesleyan University's archives; they must have some report about this in their campus or alumni news.

I have very few videos of Holt speaking; the video camera was just coming into its own in the early 80s before John died. I have photos of John appearing on the Today Show (with Ivan Illich!) and John liked to talk about how he was a guest on To Tell the Truth, a TV game show where the panelists had to guess "who is the real John Holt?". Unfortunately, none of this video survives that I'm aware of.

I mainly have 4 hours of this video, and, perhaps, an hour of John being interviewed by college students. So I have lots to post, but not a lot of variety. I hope to get more video up soon.

Ditto from me, too, pfarenga2. What a wonderfully wise, understanding man Holt was. No-one else has this talent so much as he does, the ability to get down on his hands and knees and see the world through the eyes of a child. I don't know about other countries, but here in the UK, the mania for pulling plants up by their roots to make sure they're growing OK is worse than in Holt's day. We need him more than ever.
