Many people are predicting the f-35 price will go up alot more yet. It isd allready at $150 million per copy, some are saying 200 million, some even 250 million plus, which would be verty shocking considering they cancelled the f-22 to build the F-35 to reduce the costs.

@MsArzens Ah yes it is. The F-16 has a long history distinguished record with Israeli IDF as well as the U.S. Air Force. I would rather hop into an F-16A early models and still kick the snot out of the F-35 heap of Junk Fraud from the air.Even the F-15A wouldn't break a sweat against it. These jets can still go toe to toe the best the world has to offer. USA is being run by corrupt idiots who only wish to make a profit instead of true national defense. Any stealth design will suffer the similar problem because internally store weapons, include T-50 and J-20, Comanche helicopter never made it.

i know the f-35 lacks what it takes... but what would be a good replacement fighter, one that is "perfect"

I think the USAF should have developped an F16 derivative, based on the F16XL, with AESA, FLIR, 3D thurst vectoring, the F120 engine, maybe the proposed stealthy inlet, and CFTs. Instead of the F22, the F23 and an FB23 derivative. The F35 should be cancelled and renamed the A35 or better the WTF35. Just my two cents...

@Spjungen The United States is the second Roman Empire. Corrupt, inept and it's built on oil and USA will be the last empire on Earth ever witnessed before mankind. @Spjungen I would feel really bad for our boys and girls flying the F22, F35 against the SU27,30,35, and the Mig29SMT.Plus the Russians till this day don't believe in price tags when it comes to production for these combat Jets. They will just shell them out through production lines because their ideology is? make it fly and go. Also while our jets are on the ground on maintenance their jets will be still buzzing around heading towards our air bases knocking us out for good.

@Soonerg2121 The US defense industry, and indeed most things about America, were great right up until 2000 when Bush took over...ever since then pretty much everything's taken a trainride for the worst.

The navy was at its best, with the F-14, F-18, prowler and E-2 hawkeye all complimenting each other to create the best navy ever devised by man, and the air force was at its best, with an extensive fleet of tried and tested legacy fighters.

That's all being threatened right now...
