This is a collection of footage from our last few rides. Since we're going to take our first stab at the Level 1s this weekend, I have been doing careful prep work to ensure we're getting the turns we need and maintaining the pace we need for the slightly higher jumps (3'). Jen has really put me through the ringer with some of her course patterns--and I couldn't be more grateful. :) Duncan's answered the questions he's been asked with enthusiasm and panache. When the jumps get higher, he's also more consistent with completely changing his leads. In the footage from March ninth, I'm riding him in a French link pelham (he's usually in a French link elevator). I wanted to introduce him to the pelham for the handful of hunter classes we might do at a favorite local show of mine (no, I currently have no aspirations of doing hunters full time; however, those are the only jumping classes at that show, and the elevator is not an approved bit). He smoothly transitioned into it, and, if anything, went better in the pelham than the elevator, especially when it came to rocking him back for sharp turns.

I am not interested in critiques--regardless of whether you're a subscriber, a person on the friend list, a random person from some distant land who thinks he/she knows everything about riding, etc. Spare yourself the effort, and spare me having to block you. :)

  • Would love to find a similar horse for eventing!! Neat horse! Loved the long spot on that one fence and the "opinion" he expressed after one of the fences. Too funny.
