  • where does that sound comes from?? those beeps and that scratching noise>> it doesnt even spin!

  • @foelde Good question, I don't know :( The head itself can be moved by hand, but impossible to turn the plates using hand, the motor looks broken from the inside...

  • Jammed spindle motor

  • @poussin78640 i think that the beeping is comming from the stepper motor

but it can also be an head crash and the needle is stuck in a scratch

  • @foelde the all so dreaded maxtor music.

  • Why does the head even move at all? Doesn't the platters get damaged more?

  • common for a crapstor... maxtor was never known to be reliable.. stuck spindle.. stay away from maxtor and get a WDC.....

  • maxtor famous click of death FTW

    How to fix?

    BUY A WESTERN DIGITAL!

  • @poussin78640 no you have to turn it really hard its stuck but it looks working other than that try it out

  • the sound is resonance made by the motor itself, by a signal sent to motor by a hard disk board's microcontroller when there's a severe hardware problem that means: "hey this disk is fucked up".

  • Maybe it has internal speaker?

  • Ha Ha the Craptor Dies!!!!!
