David Tennant and Catherine Tate-Much ado about nothing-Wyndham's 13-8-2011
The song is in Much Ado About Nothing Act 2, scene 3, 62--69
At the request of the prince, Don Pedro, his attendant Balthasar sings this little tune in their host's garden. The point of the ditty—that because men will never change their ways, women should just merrily accept them as they are—is clear enough, but its relevance to the play isn't. But at least one male character, and as many as three, will come to the conclusion that women (including the chaste heroine Hero) were deceivers ever, and raise no little fuss about it. Their sounds of woe become sounds of rage, rather than "hey nonny nonny" ("what the heck").

  • Is this play on DVD anywhere? Because I LOVE seeing David and Catherine acting together.

  • I was so happy Isaw this! I managed to buy a ticket on the day (one of the returns) and was sitting in a fantastic seat! (middle of the 3rd row!) Even though I had to wake at 3 the next morning it was totally worth it!

  • America is jealous

  • Dear America:

This is why everyone likes England more. C'mon, people, we need to get stuff like this over on this side of the pond.

    Love,

  • I went to see this play in the summer and absolutely loved it.

It is nominated in a couple of categories for the whatsonstage-awards this year.

So if you watched and loved this play go to the whatsonstage-homepage and help them win.

  • I wanna see more!! nothing is ever in America... :(

  • @love2love2love2day I'm not at all advocating filming shows like this, because most people who do it end up uploading the entire show. But I think it's ridiculous for you to argue that seeing THIS PARTICULAR VIDEO is gonna make someone not pay to see it.

In short... you have perfectly sound points. But you need to go rant on another video, because your points don't make any sense here.

  • @love2love2love2day Wow. I mean, yes, it is illegal.. but this person has filmed a total of 2.5 minutes of this show, most of which consists of the actors bowing, and the rest is a portion of one song. If it was the entire show filmed and put on YouTube, I can understand your frustration. But I don't think anyone will watch this and think "OH WELL, I've seen enough, now I don't need to go pay and see it!" On the contrary, after seeing this video, I think people are MORE likely to buy tickets.
