This piece was premiered at the L.U.V.M.E. concert (Lehigh University Very Modern Ensemble) which is a showcase of new works by Lehigh students.
Island is the fourth of five movements in the Earth Suite for String Quartet. The Earth Suite is the second suite in a series of five suites and once orchestral work called The Life Cycle. Each suite of the life cycle (Water, Earth, Fire, Time, Chaos) is in five movements with a different orchestration (Piano, String Quartet, Wind Ensemble, A Cappella Choir, Solo Voice and Percussion Ensemble), culminating in a full orchestral summary (constituting the 26th movement of the cycle). The first two movements of The Earth Suite were premiered in the spring of 2007.
Full work still in progress (and will be for many years).
Many thanks to the Serafin Quartet for their masterful reading of my work.
