This is obviously about WWII. ("boys and girls as samurai, like the Edo period" and "dispelling evil, ICBM") ICBM is a bomb used during that war.

Cherry blossoms were the symbol for kamikaze pilots. This probably isn't what the songwriter intended but I see "the thousand cherry blossoms, receding into the night" as soldiers falling to their deaths.

The song is actually a very sad song talking about the hardships soldiers face during war.

@ohriify I think the cherry blossoms signifying the kamakaze pilots make sense, since the lyrics say, "This banquet of sorts, an iron prison", though it is better translated as "This is a banquet inside a steel jail cell"
