Will take your advice to go to Mardi Gras next Feb. Sounds like the entire Southern LA is in a festival mood and the fun lasts for quite some weeks.

They're all over the Southern Louisiana area, every Friday night Saturday night and Sunday Morning around February, and for Monday night the day before Mardi Gras and on Mardi Gras in the morning, im not sure about New Orleans schedule though

I suggest it, it's very fun, I wouldn go to a New Orleans one if i were you, the crowds are so massive, but come to Houma, La, they're really fun

How many parades are there? There seems to be many different parades on different dates at different places in New Orleans during Mardi Gras.

Hmmm - I haven't been to Mardi Gras before. Been thinking about it but Feb is not the easiest time especially it's a few weeks after New Year vacation. In any case, I did a bit search on the web, some web sites put the parade route to 5-6 miles. The crowd extends a lot further than that.

George Lucas was the grand marshall that time so the Star Wars fans whom like to think they are living the saga gathered to match in the parade. I guess everyone there had a good time.
