OLYMPIC GOLD METAL SWIMMER JANET EVANS In her comeback, swimming legend Olympic gold medal swimmer Janet Evans, 39, shattered the world masters record the 800-meter freestyle, clocking 8:59.06, more than 10 seconds less than the previous record. Earlier she broke the U.S. Masters national and world records in her age group, 35-39, for the 400-meter freestyle, with a time of 4:23.82. The events took place at the Janet Evans Invitational at the Janet Evans Swim Complex in Fullerton, California which makes it a great day for the her old swim club Fullerton Aquatics Sports Team (F.A.S.T.) and for the city of Fullerton.
