OLYMPIC GOLD METAL SWIMMER JANET EVANS In her comeback, swimming legend Olympic gold medal swimmer Janet Evans, 39, shattered the world masters record the 800-meter freestyle, clocking 8:59.06, more than 10 seconds less than the previous record. Earlier she broke the U.S. Masters national and world records in her age group, 35-39, for the 400-meter freestyle, with a time of 4:23.82. The events took place at the Janet Evans Invitational at the Janet Evans Swim Complex in Fullerton, California which makes it a great day for the her old swim club Fullerton Aquatics Sports Team (F.A.S.T.) and for the city of Fullerton.

Is it odd that she's the only participant in this event? Does that happen a lot in masters meets? Totally amazing that she did this time without pressure from other racers, though.
