Viewpoint Series / Josef Bares

Viewpoint series consists of a number of video loops which investigate the way in which the impression of space emerges in human perception. The work focuses on the urban space, the experience of everyday movement through urban space and the perception of surrounding architecture. The impression of a third dimension is closely linked to movement. It is the result of a difference - the difference between the left and the right eye, the difference between the beginning and end of an eye or whole body movement. Thus the impression of space is a highly physical experience. Viewpoint series is based on abstractions of this experiences. At the same time the work can be read metaphorically, as terms like "confronting different viewpoints" or "gaining a new perspective" are as well used to define moments within an intellectual discourse.
