the song is a bit of an enigma. i know it is not an original sufjan tune but the meaning is still ultimately the same: if you loved this person so much, you would not have left him/her. so, in essence, i do not think it is a typical love song. it is a song about losing love. it is a song about selfishness and egotistical behaviour. it's about being in love with yourself. if you love someone, truly, and leave them. the only person who will enjoy that love is you. it is the most selfish thing.

Another good Sufjan Stevens song. I heard his song Holland(the most played song on my iPod) through Weeds(I know how typical lol) and fell in love with it. Then while watching the series recently heard another song I liked and to my surprise it was by him too! So now I'm delving into his music and it's beautiful!!
