Jesus is a giver. He came to give his life for us so that we may be able to have a relationship with him. We are called to be givers because that is the model Jesus set for us. We can't earn our salvation by giving money, because that would be "purchasing" that which is not for sale, our salvation. Pastor Mark Driscoll talks about our generous God, Jesus Christ, in this clip from part 12 of the Doctrine sermon series, "Stewardship: God Gives."

I thank you so much for the things you are saying. I have been told so many times that i am cursed cause i am poor. That just tells me that good does not care for me. I never have believed that. The richness that i seek and the blessings have never been to own a mansion. Yet i am being told by my Christian friends that i should by prayer receive all the wealth i could imagine. but i have always told them the wealth thy talk of is not the wealth God will give me. they dont talk to me any more.
