Two Piston Robots, Horikawa and SJM. A much underrated robot with great action, a transitional stage in Japanese robot manufacture from tinplate to plastic. Circa 1970s, This is the original SH Horikawa Piston Robot. My particular version as shown has different ear types, instead of circular fins it has tapered ears, also the feet have moulded in figures at the front. Other Horikawa versions exist, the rarer one with exposed rear showing the rear bank of pistons and black litho instead of the gold as shown here. Not to be confused the second video which shows the later 1980s SJM made in Taiwan copy, which has metal legs and feet, although it can be found with plastic legs but always has red metal feet.
