"Service to others is the price you pay for the space you occupy." My mother and father lived by that motto. Now that I am retired, it seemed only natural that I would increase my involvement in community voluteer activities. It is especially helpful for people caught up in depression related to serious illness and its consequences to step outside themselves. It's good for you mental health, and it takes your mind off yourself for a few hours a week. My parents both lived by the motto at the first of this paragraph. My mother taught Red Cross swimming for 60 years, all volunteer time. The City Council named a bath house at the new pool after her, and honor most people have to write million dollar checks to have! She taught sixty years because she, simply, loved to teach children and adults skills that could make them safer, more skilled swimmers.
I admire excellence, no matter how it manifests itself. You have a gift, a talent that I hope you can take to greater heights!
