2. I thought lefties like you hated abuse of animals. Doing that to a poor horse would be so heartless and cruel.
3. Doing such a thing to an officer would give the police the right to use lethal force against you. In other words, if you even attempt to assault a cop or his horse with a dangerous enough weapon (i.e. a taser), they could shoot you dead where you stand, and it would be deemed lawful and justifiable.

1. It gives the mounted police officers higher ground.
2. Horses are strong enough to push through protestor blockades.
3. The psychological factor. The sight of a mounted officer riding quickly towards them would probably make most of the anarchist/ communist punks here turn tail and run, probably in need of a change of underwear.
