Things are out of whack here in France, for sure. They keep telling us there is no inflation! Then why does the price of gas, electricity, public transportation, food, keep going up? Pay is not only stagnant, it is decreasing.

WIthin 5 miles of where I live many thousands of sq feet of new buldings have been going up - mainly commercial & a lot of warehouses.

And amazingly they seem to be built on spec - as "for lease" signs go up after construction is completed.

So some ppl have a great deal of faith in the US makt as many millions are being spent.

Where is the money coming for all this new construction - China? India? UsA?

What you are describing is called a "plunder economy". Where the government collects every dollar they can morally collect and use it to recruit workers into their systems of employment. It is a subtle form of recruitment. Those they employ will support big government. When the people feel dependent on the Nanny State they tend to defend it's programs. The ugliest part is that we become a work brigade of pets to the government, and that is where we now find ourselves.
