it was on lifetime and yes its from 97

LoL, yeah, i think it was him. I'm pretty sure I saw him at more than just that show though, so he had to be with her for a tour that year.
-
Ah, yeah, it was called The Paramount back then, i think, lol.

This proves that we both aren't lying! Because I distinctly remember Sarah's short hair as well. It's so funny that sticks out in both of our minds. But was I right about Willy Porter as the opener? I'm pretty sure that was the show he opened for her. He was wearing a red University Of Wisconsin sweatshirt. Incredibly talented singer and guitarist. I'm now playing some of his YouTube stuff. He's still waiting to be discovered, I guess.

LoL. I was there too!! I sat right in front of Ms. McLachlan, so slightly behind you. It was after she got her short haircut, lol. The stupid things you remember 12 years later. Awesome show.

Sorry, one last thing. The show was actually at the "Theater at Madison Square Garden", not the big MSG itself. I guess they call it WaMu Theater now (but I can't imagine that name can last much longer!). Maybe the "JPMorgan Chase Theater" is the next name.

To help clarify, was this broadcast on Lifetime TV? It was clear that the show was a fundraiser for RAINN and being recorded for Lifetime (Calvin Klein also figured in somehow). I saw Tori 4 times over the years, and that show was a standout. Her opening act was Willy Porter, who was one of the most impressive opening acts I've ever seen. Even he got some flowers. He even made up a little song about how thrilled he was to be opening up for Tori.

Is this from 1/23/97? I was there and had a near front row seat, which I bought two hours before the show. I was walking by Penn Station on my way home from work. I went to the window for a ticket and they said they had one near the camera crane. I bought it for $46! Awesome seat--better than Sarah McLachlan's a few rows back. I remember to this day how Tori closed with this song and exited the stage right with a "rear kiss". That song was in my head on the subway ride home. Great show!

you are greedy in your comment, sir. i understand your point but i think it is very biased and all-together unfair. these people shared an experience together. they celebrated it together. they thanked her together.
you are entitled to your opinion. but in my opinion; you're wrong.
my god, tori is amazing, but her fans are extremely irritating. i know she's not too keen on criticism of her them (after all, they helped make her career), but i've never been to a tori concert where i haven't experienced some fool who sings along at the top of their lungs are screams incessantly at the most inopportune moments. yeah, she's amazing when she belts it out - could i hear how amazing it is rather than listen to you scream your head off?

This performance...just wow. It's a peace of heaven or somethin'...If you understand it. It is the best song she could have chosen to end this concert. Just a lil annoying that they scream so much.
