Driving Illinois 2 to Oregon, Illinois

Driving Illinois Route 2 into my hometown of Oregon, Illinois. A classic drive, called by Ronald Reagan one of the prettiest drives in America. (As though he would have said otherwise....)

Sorry about the silent video. The Paul Simon I had playing on the car stereo ("The Coast" from "Concert in the Park") has been blocked by YouTube as a copyright violation on my part. Oops. I lived there for 6 years and had to move back to Chgo,,,MIss it terribly !!! Route 2 has had a redo and a lot of trees were torn down , but then nothing stays the same....

I grew up in Oregon, actually on Rt. 2 a little south of town. The average size house with the huge yard and a barn. I'm in southern illinois now in college and I haven't lived in Oregon for about 6 years. It's nice to see that I'm not the only person who gets nostalgic about it. I appreciate the video. I make the drive up there as often as possible, but not often enough. It's nice to see the area once in a while.

I grew up in Oregon, drank beer at The Well, and moved to the west coast. I'm a friend of Steve Novak, I believe he is a cousin of yours. Funny thing is I now live part time in CA and part time in China. I watched this in China and it sure brought back some memories. I agree that it is one of the best drives in the world...Thanks!

I remember as a young kid going through there on my way back home in Rockford back in the early 70's. Does the Grand Detour Bridge still exist today? As a kid I thought that was a beautiful bridge.
