After having endless trouble with Vista and the nvlddmkm.sys BSODs, I decided to downgrade to XP to see if the issue resolves.

(after many other trouble shooting processes)...

Now I get a NV4_Disp BSOD following the experience that I have recorded here.

So that's an OS related issue out of the question. Granted that I ams till using nVidia drivers and the same 8600 GT Graphic card.

The system has not been overclocked. I am using a Fortron 450W PSU and other system specs are:

Asus P5N-E SLI Motherboard; Q6600 CPU; 2GB DDR2 PC2-5300 AData sticks + HDD and optical drives.

Anyone got a solution?

Help!

  • u have the same problem like me :|

    and the same screen :D

  • Screen is good. lol Hope you sort out the problem though... I gave up.

  • After waiting ages and going in circles, I finally got my full refund. Shame about the card though, it was really good. Got myself another good deal with the ATi HD 4800 series cards. Hoping it won't fail on me (too) soon :P

    Thanks for replies.

  • let me know how the ATI is working. Im about to return my newly purchased 8800 GTX havng the BSOD every game I play.

  • The HD 4800 series is superb. Considering its price, the performance is outstanding. Although I haven't run any benchmarks (I wasn't paranoid enough to run any, because I am so satisfied with game quality) a quick google search will put numbers to these words :-) I am happy!

  • Hey eAGer4, totally get what your saying... I did initially pick up on some (what I thought were then) rumours on the internet about the poor quality of the cards, but the particular deal I was chasing was too sweet to miss out on. Guess it was too good to be true. I hope to get a full refund from Komplett (where I bought the card); but as of yet they are only offering a partial refund.

  • I was thinking of going to sp2 from sp3, to get rid of this issue.

  • update video driver or checkup your video card

  • lol

  • @7BeAsT9 I'm starting to think, it has to be something very stupid, i sent my cards twice back under warranty, they gave me a new ATI HD 5970 and a GTX 295(asus)

I still get the bugt, under all my possible configurations, here at home.

  • @7BeAsT9 Nope, i'm getting the same problem with ATI cards, but then i get atikmdag stopped working, it also shows off in blue screen, i use 3-way SLI HD 5870. Single one doesn't work either, it bugs in windows XP, vista and seven.

  • @goshlol123 this problems are more related to drivers, programs, games ect not hardware :\ some time passed and my knowledge is bigger now. All we can try is changing drivers from new to older or other way :) nobody tries to make our lives with computers easier :D

  • I did try ATI? i bought an ATI HD 5970 since i had the nvlddmkm.sys problem with my GTX 295 in windows Vista and Windows 7, then I tried the ATI HD 5970 in vista and 7 and then they say Atikmdag.sys stopped working and is fixed.... I downgraded to Windows XP, and now I get the same problem as the guy in the movie with both the ati hd 5970 and the GTX 295. But i only get those pixels and flashes, random colours and stuff in games. I don't get problems when using internet explorer and stuff.

  • 4 month's ...

and i didn't solve the problem
