ABOUT UNDERSTANDING:
If the Apostle Paul prayed for the Ephesians that the Lord would enlighten their understanding, (Ephesians 1:18), and prayed without ceasing for the Colossians that they might be filled with all spiritual understanding, (Colossians 1:9), I'm sure he knew what his part in the matter was. To either plant or water the truth but that it was God who would be faithful to give the increase. (1Corinthians 3:6)

ABOUT ITALICIZED WORDS:
A good example of italicised words gettng in the way of the verse's meaning, here is a good one in 2Timothy 4:16. I will capitalize the italicized words because you can't format here:

16 At my first answer no man stood with me, but all men forsook me: I PRAY GOD that it may not be laid to their charge.

Take out the italicized words and you get:

16 At my first answer no man stood with me, but all men forsook me: that it may not be laid to their charge.

Another good one is in Acts 3:17

17 And now, brethren, I wot (know) that through ignorance ye did IT, as DID also your rulers.

With the italicised words, it makes it seem like the rulers ALSO were ignorant of what they were doing when they delivered Jesus up. But the testimony of the scripture elseware tells us that the rulers of the people were NOT ignorant. That they delivered Jesus up out of envy. That they knew He was the heir and wanted him dead.

If you take out the italicised words, it reads:

17 And now brethren I wot (know) that through ignorance ye did as also your rulers.

If you dig a little further in the Strong's concordance it defines the word "as" this way: "just as". "You did just as also your rulers."

Thanks for your comment Mel. We do agree in many areas which I find to be rare these days. I always rejoice when I find like minded believers. But something has been changing in me in recent months. I am seeing, to a much greater extent, the importance of how the believers deal with each other in the areas where they DON'T agree. That we do our best to keep the love out front, whatever our differences. In my mind, love trumps all!

  • When I became a Christian that is what I started out with the KJV and I do not like any other version to this day.. Yes you are right to many people get behind one another and start following one another, and it's no wonder that we are living in the last days. Believe me sister I agree with you a little more then may think.. I just come at it from a different angle : )
