People judge us by how we look, whether we like it or not. Starla Sireno, executive coach at Fearlessness Inc., says that as a manager it is your job to have this difficult conversation. Explain how dressing better can help with a raise or promotion. It may be more difficult for male managers to offer this advise to female employees, so tread lightly.

  • That's it, I've lost all faith in humanity.

  • "The fact is that people judge us by the way we dress and the way we look" - and you don't find that in the least bit problematic?

  • @joeschmojo You've really fired employees because they were wearing jeans? Hardcore...

  • @BlacknWhitesAlright It's just the human way. Sad, but true. Many HR textbooks dedicate entire chapters on how a person can be trained to look past snapshot judgments, to avoid being deceived by such behavior, but that takes time and motivation. Left to their natural disposition, almost everyone will try to determine character attributes based upon appearance.

  • @darn808pinoy DITTO!!!!!

  • Bah! Industrial country problem...

    People are starving!

  • I completely misread "Underdressed"

  • My head is about to explode. "He may get a raise or a promotion"

  • I really really hope nobody is taking this video seriously -_-

  • I don't know what is more hilarious. The video in itself or the people commenting on it.

Doing the exact oposite of society's standards is being a marginal, and is probably as sheepish as being a conformist.

I only do what's best for me, taking in consideration my environment.

But of course, this is much more difficult than just conforming to society's standards and being manipulated like a puppet by governments and marketing.
