It may seem strange to combine the recent high-tech Spyderco Rock Lobster (designed by Jens Anso) and the venerable big Opinel 12 in one review. However considering my usage of them this makes sense. Watch to find out!

The problem is that I can't find a No.12 in any shop nearby. So, I would like to know where could I find a stainless version of a classic No.12 on internet. Unfortunatley, again a problem occurs because none of the knifes are shipped to Slovenia. If you or anyone else knows a useful site, please tell me, if not than thanks anyway.

As I cannot post a direct link: Google for:

    couteaux Berthier

Then you will find a great French webshop that offers Opinel and many other splendid French knives. They ship all over the world.

I have an Opinel 10 Carbone, handle swelling is annoying, as is worrying about corrosion, but they are so useable and get so sharp if you know how to sharpen! The Rock Lobster is very cool but so expensive, would love to try one anyway. You are right that it is fun to see which folding knives can be used on food, but every time you switch back to a real kitchen knife you realize why they are better.

Yes indeed, for food prep a thinner blade is better.

I belive that Global is actually a Japanese division of the German company Wusthof. Both of them make great kitchen knives, and I own a very high quallity parring knife made by Wusthof.
