  • the new housing with everything I got for it was close to 300 dollars. but you can get just the housing for around 200 dollars.

  • the reason for a thermostat is for the engine to get to normal operating temperature faster. if you did not have a thermostat in a vehicle it would run, but not very efficiently. The engine is made to run at a certain temperature range. if it does not meet that range; the ecm or pcm will try to compensate by adding more fuel than necessary. thus causing a decrease in fuel economy.

  • I just did this repair on my '03 ranger, 4.0 SOHC @159,000 miles. The seal on the lower housing split on the rear side. Wish I had seen this video before I did the work yesterday. Thanks for posting it because there will be lots of ppl having this problem
