Pics of the Iguazu - Iguaçu - waterfalls.
Brazil - Argentina border. The song is Smile, performed by Olodum.
Also spelled IGUASSÚ, OR IGUAZÚ, Spanish CATARATAS DEL IGUAZÚ, Portuguese CATARATAS DO IGUAÇU, cataract on the Iguaçu River, 14 miles (23 km) above its confluence with the Paraná, at the Argentina-Brazil border. The horseshoe-shaped falls are 2.5 miles (4 km) wide - four times the width of Niagara Falls in North America and somewhat greater than the width of Victoria Falls in Africa. Numerous rocky and wooded islands on the edge of the escarpment over which the Iguaçu River plunges divide the falls into some 275 separate waterfalls or cataracts, varying between 200 and 269 feet (60 and 82 m) in height. The name of the falls, like that of the river, is derived from a Guarani word meaning "great water."
The rate of flow of the falls may rise to a maximum of 450,000 cubic feet (12,750 cubic m) per second during the rainy season from November to March.

  • Wow, you must be a great geographer!!! By the way, try the wikipedia. Regards!

  • Maybe you are right, but try to imagine these numbers: Iguaçu is four times the width of Niagara, and the falls have two steps. The volume of water in Niagara in the peak season is 202,000 cubic feet per second (5,720 m³/s), while Iguaçu flows 450,000 cubic feet per second (12,750 m³/s) from November to March.

  • beautiful...i vote this as one of the seven wonders of the world

  • I cant belive that people are fighting about wich country has more part of the Falls!!!!

I am Brazilian and its true that the Falls are to 70% on the Argentinian side and 30 % on the Brazilian side!

And for those who think that Itaipu is in "Iguaçu or Iguazu", thats not true its in the river Parana. I was in both places!

And i realy give a s**t, wich country has more part of the Falls. Important is that they are such beautifull and they have to be protected. So please stop this stupid convers.

  • los unicos países que comparten las cataratas son argentina y brasil , y no pararguay

  • This arguing about which country the falls "belong" to is pathetic. They are a wonderful part of this beautiful planet which God gave to all of humanity to share.

  • SON FOTOS DEL PARAISO?

CREO QUE MENEM VENDIO UNA PARTE A URUGUAY.

  • I suppose that the title includes Paraguay because many years ago the falls belonged to Paraguay. But they were lost (along with the majority of the population) in a war against the combined armies of Brazil, Argentina, and Uruguay.
