It seems that you are limiting the number of vents letting steam out. Why is that please? Why not have more vents?
It would have liked to see how you loaded the wood and have an inside look at the kiln.

I think John Westcott explains at the beginning he wants to slow the burning down. More vents would speed the process up too much. It would have been good to film the other points you raise but he was in the middle of a 10 hour burn and we had about 10 other films to make that day. Thanks for watching

if you invert the kiln and catch the "steam" in another container you can catch the oils from the wood which has many uses...
