great pics....that night of the 19th was totally amazing!!! Here in New Plymouth, we went upto a hill in the town, there must have been about 300 people there by the end of the evening & the view was the most breathtaking thing I have ever seen! as the sun went down the comet followed behind it....you could see it getting pulled around the sun & the pattern in the tail...wow!

Fritz, this is spectacular. I traced the event using a Java Applet, being aware of it in the neighborhood and seeing the event are two quite different things, however. Thank you, so much, for sharing. 19 Jan 07 must have been particularly incredible.

Thank you very much for your comment. I can only say Comet McNaught was one of the most unforgettable events in all my life. The images don't really do it justice.

Thank you tobekeen for your comment. Comet McNaught was without doubt the most spectacular astronomical event I have ever seen in all my life - and I am 71 years old.
