In the official video for the year's largest railroad celebration, the Steam Railroading Institute and its Chief Mechanical Officer Greg Udolph and Executive Director TJ Gaffney discuss work performed on steam locomotive Pere Marquette no. 1225 for service and cover the transition from steam technology to modern diesel locomotives.

This scene and many others are available in the official souvenir video available for purchase on http://www.michigansteamtrain.com

  • @IllinoisTrains1 shes in for her 15 year inspection and will be out for the rest of 2010 to possibly 2012. And yes there practically taking her apart and putting her back together.

  • Is the SRI shutting down 1225. The man at the end said it was the end of its second career. Does he mean that they are going to rebuild her again for a third career or what does he mean.

  • The clarity of those old images are unbelievable. Nice work, and thanks for sharing!

  • the most largets over all was Saromento Railfair 91 thirty steam engines

  • Thanks Greg & TJ for sharing your thoughts about railroad history. Sorry to see 1225 didn't perform @ Trainfest. At least it did well for the fall trips and the doubleheaders with 765.
