BBC Closedown (1997) with weather

Pre digital when BBC One used to closedown for the night with the national anthem. This was after a showing of the film "Running on Empty"

Why does the announcer talks about the BBC Radio?

Usual cross-promotion. Both ! BBC TV channels have closed down for the night, but BBC radio continues on through the night.

definetly between February 1991 and October 1997 as that is when they used this symbol.

If IMDB is correct then the Ruby Wax meets programme with Tom Hanks and Jean Claude vanDamme was on Mon 27 Jan 1997 - so this was possibly from the closedown of Sun 26 Jan 1997 (in the early hours of Mon morning)

Hi I think BBC should bring back the closedowns and test card because I personly think BBC NEWS 24 sucks and really no one bothers to watch it.If you agree with me please visit my youtube acount/page and tell me via channel coment i will send you a private youtube messege about what we should do to make BBC stop the BBC 24 crap and bring back our closedowns and test cards.Also I think that test cards and close downs give me a warm felling. @numnut24 What about people who wake up early to catch an early flight? They might want to know the news before they leave.

Although I agree they should bring back the closedowns, oh and the on-screen analogue clock.

I wish BBC1 and BBC2 would return to shutdowns as it's quite annoying finding either BBC News (which is news for the absent minded with 15-20 minute headlines - which defeats the object since most important news features were usually 10 mins long) or endless repeats for the hard of hearing with a signer in the corner. (Do they think the deaf only come out at night? besides they offer subtitles on most things now anyway (which is usually very slow as the typist must only do 20 words a minute))

@SPTSuperSprinter156 I don't think it was to made to "make you shut off your set" but just a reminder to those who may have been dozing (which occasionally did when I had a stinker of a cold/flu) and it's a gentle reminder that the TV is on and not just broken.

I personally think that the new style is a lot better, more clear, despite looking really shoddy and cheap. This style is a bit confusing compared to the new one.
