@mistermellow001 Oh, come'on! fans will be fans, and do this kind of stuff! They weren't even saying anything bad about him, so i don't see the problem... Plus, it is buffy's pannel, so is fair that they ask something about buffy, not the actor himself!

I'd give anything to see James as Spike again!

he sounds like spike, it's just that james' voice has gotten deeper since then. i know it doesn't sound that probable, since he's been fully grown for awhile now lol, but if you watch amber benson's chance in 2002, his voice is higher, and since he's acting in his natural accent in that film, it's obvious it's just his natural voice changing.

I think the people who havr posted just under me are forgetting two things: 1-James is a little older now. 2-People are just as use to (if not more used to) his american accent, whereas on the show it took years for people to realize he was american. "Spike" sounded all right to me, just older.

Every time I've seen someone ask James to do an accent (TV interviews, panels, whatever) he always answers that he doesn't do them unless he's getting paid. This is the first time I've actually seen him say that, then do the accent anyway.

I don't get this does he say he doesn't want to play spike anymore?
-
He will have to listen to himself talk on the dvds...to get it back I supposed. If he ever had to do Spike again.
-
I think it's just been so long since he had to play Spike, that he kind of can't do the accent as well anymore, but it was still hot. As usual, you always come through with the videos. I've enjoyed watching these=)

I don't think that is quite the way he spoke as Spike. Spikes speech wasn't quite so rough. He sounds a little like a cockney to me here. Then again maybe I've just gotten used to his real voice. I don't know.
God, I love James Marsters

As much as I'd love to be in James Marsters' shoes, it would be hard to not get frustrated with constant requests to "talk like Spike." Some rabid fans seem to forget that they're talking to a flesh-and-blood actor, not the character.
