Classic piece taken from Orff Schulwerk Volume 1: Musica Poetica.

Personally, I believe Gassenhauer to be one of the greatest life pieces ever created and I always feel like taking a really deep breath and running around the world when I listen to it. I hope you all feel similar when you listen to it and please feel free to comment on your feelings when you listen. Enjoy!

  • @marcalbala the 7 deaf people liked your comment! :)

  • It is my understanding that "Gassenhauer" or "Street Song" is part of a collection of music which promoted his concept of Eurythmics developed in the early 20th teaches concepts of rhythm, structure, and musical expression using movement. I once played this piece for my 2 year old niece, and automatically, she started moving about the room which I found fascinating.

  • Who else does this song makes you think about happy lion cubs playing on a savannah?

  • Sounds too cool.

  • beautifully plain !

  • @MeGaN2560 Im not deaf, I sense little to no modulation and alterations. I sense no complex rhythms, polymeasures, polymetric arrangements, etc. I dont sense no exquisite combination of energies, no anxiety turning into happiness or romance turning through an arch of anguish into more romance. I respect it if you like it, but dont call it a masterpiece. Go listen to Mahler or Strauss if you want a masterpiece.

  • Get your data straight, people: this is an arrangement for "Orff instruments" (small soprano, alto xylophones, tambourine & timpani), used in special elementary school music classes alongside singing and movement/dance. The music is taken from an original lute piece from the Renaissance, arranged by Gunild Keetman (Orff's ex pupil and main collaborator, as well as a fabulous composer). This exact score is available in Vol. 2 of "Music for Children" by Schott Publishing.

  • this song gives me goose bumps..is that beautiful...thank you!

  • Parece a música do comercial do Itaú.

  • 50 first dates!!!!

  • true romance!
