Super cougar video
(and nice example of how individuals differ - as in which ones are not willing to get wet).
FIVE STARS (for the video - and for making their captive lives more interesting)

Westbank, BC, Canada has an ever growing people population which has pushed cougar territory into the Mountain called "Boucherie". Problem is that the subberb (housing developements) are surrounding it and still being built. 6 years ago I was 15 and while taking a shortcut throush the mountain I got lost. I was determined to go through and ended up hearing 1. I was tracked but quickly put on all my clothes in my bag and made myself bigger. I fell 100 metre slope of small jagged rock but survived

My one encounter with one in the wild involved finally figuring out that the cat wasn't going to let us pass, unless we put our five hotdogs on the ground and step far enough away that it could snack and go along it's way...I know,I know, that was wrong. But we haven't had any of those infamous attacks in our area, and this was about twenty-five years ago.
How much does it cost to make a sanctuary?

@MrAlvinSinfulSong You can't really answer this question, it's a commitment that can and will cost millions if you are as committed to ending the abuse like we are. You can visit our website BigCatRescue*org for more info

That's cute when they are in a cage, but they get more respect up here in the Sierras near Yosemite. They follow the deer all around my house, I see their footprints (esp when it snows) and hear them hiss and growl when I get too close.

Solohoh, we do wish they could all live wild and free. Sadly though, since someone made them captive that is never to be. So we give them as large of enclosures as possible with as many naturalistic features as possible. We try to provide regular enrichment and the best care possible. It will never be the same as livng wild and free but it will be the best we can possibly give them. You are blessed to see/hear them in the wild. Please share more with us!

Very educational and entertaining...without hurting animals. They are having a blast.

We here at Big Cat Rescue, firmly believe that regular enrichment activities for captive animals are very important. We are always looking for creative and safe ways for relieving boredom for the cats.
