It is, it's not about love, it's a legal agreement with financial implications. In the good ole USA a man can walk in and find his wife humping his best friend, then she can divorce him, move in with the friend and make him pay alimony, that's America.

@CaptainNoMarriage It is a very selfless act to stay home and pay bills and raise children and clean house and make dinner and do the shopping all while you husband goes to lunch with his friends and makes a good living. In the U.S.A. a mother cannot even collect social security for raising her children.How is she to do all of this and when hubby decides to jump ship (wealthy) start all over and build a career at lets say 50 years old.Each Case Is Different. Marriage is a Contract !

This is the very reason to avoid marriage. If women cannot fend for themselves tuff titty, literally. The rate of marriage is going down due to this and child support. Now a days only guys that are a dumb ass put themselves at risk and get the state involved in their business. Wake up people. You can have all the things of a marriage and keep women from thinking they have the upper hand by simply not signing a contract and not moving in together. She has her place you have yours.

Alimony is illegal by the standards of the U.S constitution. Does anybody know of any case law or cases where alimony has been stopped using the constitution argument?

Alimony - vengeance money for women who decided to bail out on their marriage. It's a scandal.

it's none of the state's damned business - or shouldn't be? - but divorce is HUGE business for lawyers, courts, judges - a HUGE money money-maker for the state, when it comes to 'collecting' child support - it's good for everyone except children, and their father whose wives bailed out - bailed out, with incentive from the state.
