After dealing with the technical difficulties that is. We start off at Pulaski St. where the crew is getting the three units ready for their run. Leading the consist is a ex- Conrail C40-8W with a great RS3L horn, next is a old faded SD40-2 followed by a SD50-2, all in YN2 paint. Unfortunately i only got he SD50-2 starting up, which took a bit of time since the unit didnt want to play nice and had to be isolated. After the engines were started the crew finds that the trains EOT is not working, so the depot crew brings over another one, nope that ones dead too, the Roadmaster brings over another, nope no dice, After going through 3 EOT's the crew decides to proceed to Pilgrims Pride and hopefully pick up a EOT there. We finish the video seeing the 3 units pull out of the siding and head south, with the lead units RS3L blaring for the crossings.

  • forgive my ignorance, but what is an EOT??

  • The flashy red thingy on the end of the train. Stands for End of Train device Pretty much a replacement for a caboose, sends data from the rear of the train to the head end and serves as a rear marker.

  • Ive been waiting for this one....! Listen to that horn!! 5**** and a fav!!

  • Thanks! And ya, that RS3L really made my day!

  • Who was that with the kid?

  • Not a clue, just someone taking their kids out to watch the trains i guess.

  • Time to send that sd40 to Mexico

  • @MrChenza05 Monitors air pressure so you know if you have brake air at the rear

  • @nikosjk1

ITs called FRED, Flashing Rear End Device, or its more commonly connotation among engineers... Fucking Rear end device.

  • On Conrail, we used to call the EOTs "FRED"s. Frashing Rear End Device" or for those who lost their job to it, the F stood for something else!

  • that sd40-2 isnt looking so good..
