WHERE IS YOUR FOUR TRACK MAINLINE?
Seriously though, have you considered a modular set up? If you're serious about NEC modeling, there are more than a few of us playing around with the idea of making an NEC modular club. Nothing is solid yet, but we'll see.
Right now i think the biggest problem is finding out how to "merge" the catenary together.

@blarization You have to be patient. Walthers is a pain, it reruns them every couple of years. I would bet $50 that by next christmas, you might see another run of them. They ALWAYS go fast though, so pick up a few.
Some alternatives are IHP and Island Model works. These are nich manufacturers of commuter cars. IHP cars are nearly impossible to obtain, but they are worth it in terms of detail. IMW models started out crude, but more recent models are fantastic and they available now.

Added to favorites! Nice job
great video, thanks for posting. Waiting for mine to come for my boy to open Christmas morning. The sound is incredible, is this the decoder that originally came with the train?
scubaguy98 2 months ago
@scubaguy98 The one in the video was DCC ready, but not DCC equipped. I put a TCS T4X decoder in, which has something called BackEMF. BackEMF monitors the motor to ensure constant and expected operation...which is why I can get it to crawl along extremely smoothly at super slow speeds. The original Bachmann (MRC, I think) decoders aren't bad, but they're definitely not the same. They kind of lurch to a start.

Awesome vid, but I can't help but saying that it sounds like its wheels have a flat spot somewhere on them. Am I correct?
Roboman2121 8 months ago
@Roboman2121 No, there's no flat spots on the wheels. They're rolling over Kato unitrack, which is sectional snap track. The noise is the wheels passing the joints between track sections.

what radius curve did you use for this train it looks like you're using 18 radius curve
Emubirdproductions1 1 year ago
@Emubirdproductions1 These are rolling on Kato Unitrack. The curve radius is 25", but the camera zoom may make it seem less. :)
