  • The audience of La Scala is notoriously bad-mannered. If the management engage someone to sing it is because they believe that person is capable of singing and has shown himself or herself capable of singing at the highest standard. The guttersnipes and ignorant need only remain silent if the singing does not satisfy their exigent demands. No need to destroy a person or that person's confidence. Rudeness to anyone on stage is unforgiveable.

  • Opera is a sport only with fisical aspect, but its also a Highest spossible expression of art. It would be like You dont like picture at gallery and you cut it with nife. Singers are worked and working hard to performe opera. Listeners should try. If some sprinter athlete would strain his muscle, I cant imagine that spectators would boo him or throw plastic glases on track.

In Highest culture and art house must be highest culture and manners from spectators. No excuse for such action!

  • Manners, shmanners! Please. All you people blathering about "manners" are petty bourgeois who go to the opera (if you go at all) only to be seen. The Italians LOVE opera & take it very seriously. That's why they boo an insultingly bad performance. Good for them.

  • I think a few half hearted claps are more appropriate, or resounding cheers if the performance rated highly with audience.

  • While I agree that it is impolite to boo, everyone understands the dynamics at La Scala, so if a singer is too thin skinned to get booed, he/she should not sing there. If you can't stand the heat, stay out of the kitchen.

  • @corellithebest

corelli got booed too. once a guy at the highest balcony yelled an insult at him and he stormed off mid performance, stomped up the stairs and the ushers had to stop him from going gangster on his ass =P

  • @slancio15

Please give me Verdi's e-mail so that I can ask him myself !

Much easier to sing loud and high: that pleases the public who are too ignorant to appreciate the difficulty of singing beautifully SOFT & high!

  • Roberto grande! italiani crescete e soprattutto andate a lavorare! Il giorno in cui voi sarete su un palco, ne riparliamo. Imparate il rispetto per questa professione.

  • @cirosuperiore più che altro non ha stile, come tutti i francesi del resto

  • he sounds very angry

    sembra molto arrabiato, incavolato. irritato

if you can't take the heat stay out of the kitchen

se no supporta il calore sta fuori d'alla cucina.

  • The La Scala audience is extremely hardcore on the singers! Extremely hardcore.
