In the summer of 2010, four American college students traveled to Ambhatoranana, Madagascar for 3 months to deploy 100 laptops to students of Lova Soa, a primary school. Mary Yanik (University of Maryland), Kate Doyle (George Washington University), Michael Buckwald (GWU), and Sean Robinson (GWU) were participating in the OLPCorps program created by the One Laptop Per Child Foundation. They partnered with the Madagascar School Project, a Canadian nonprofit that builds and staffs primary schools in rural Madagascar.
