Amazing! My neighbour's Doberman has just had the same leg amputated, although she is a little older. She's still adjusting to her new status but is doing very well and is starting to return to her old self. To the best of our knowledge, the cancer hasn't spread and at least we all get to spend a bit longer with Cleo. Sorry you had to get Levi euthanized in the end. He was beautiful.

@lolamaya00 Both dogs are mine. The dobie is Levi, he was about 7 years old when this video was made. He had his leg amputated last year due to bone cancer, recovered quickly from the surgery, and was a very active and happy dog afterward. Just a few weeks ago, the cancer spread to his chest and when we could see that he wasn't enjoying life anymore, we euthanized him. The pitbull is Maggie Mae, she's about three years old (both dogs are rescues, so nobody knows their ages for sure).

When Levi was diagnosed, he was in a lot of pain & I was told to put him to sleep because he was too big for amputation. Luckily the oncologists at UF disagreed. As soon as the leg was gone, the pain was gone, & by the 2nd day he was hopping outside to potty on his own.
This was one of the toughest decisions I ever made, but I don't regret it at all. I posted this video so anyone else facing this decision can see that these dogs can have a GREAT life after amputation!
