I have been developing an ukulele which will be launched soon. Here is a video showing how I make the necks with a bunch of fixtures, finer shaping with spokeshaves, and a hand rubbed finish. I am using Western Red Cedar for the necks and body with black walnut or rock maple binding, fret board, and bridge. The song is Hey, Soul Sister by Train.

  • I am back building ukuleles now. I have about 20 in production. For the backs and sides, I am using CVG douglas fir, old growth redwood, and curly maple. The tops will be old growth CVG western red cedar. I will work on a video of the process.

  • Very nice video! I hope you plan on uploading the rest of the proces, I've seen it done before but am still pacing myself top start making one myself.

  • @Shimert I stopped for a while to complete a Chris Craft restoration. I hope to get back on them next month. I will create some videos on how I bend the sides and such.

  • That was sick. Do you sell ukulele necks???

  • The plan is to sell complete ukuleles. Are you looking for a neck?

  • Love your approach. Who do you thin down the headstock?

  • LOL-Interesting that you round the neck on the end of the table saw fence rail. Nice use of jigs and sleds. Do you get much tear-out at the end of the cut when hogging the initial neck shape?

Very nice shop set-up with nice shiny tools. I wish I had that much room to move around. Also looks to be a nice boat project in the background.

  • how is that ukulele coming along?

  • I bet that smells so nice with that cedar. :)

  • is he using mini quick grip clamps?

  • that'd be funny and awesome havin a ukelele section on tls
