Underground is the story of five friends who become trapped inside a cave system deep below a mountain ridge in central Kentucky. In the darkness they must fight against confusion, the harsh cave environment and each other to survive. With no food, limited potable water, and only five dying flashlights, the path to freedom is much more convoluted than they can imagine.

The film stars Kevin Thoms, Michael Beck, Jackson Loo, Julie McNiven, and Michael Arden and takes advantage of digital technology to capture a hidden world rarely seen on film. Shot over seven days, the cast of five and crew of four hiked up to a mile underground each day, braving cold temperatures, permanent darkness, bats, mud, and a very cold underground river. The filmakers packed in equipment, food, safety gear, and enough battery power to last the day. Presented with real dangers, the filmmakers manage to balance the story on the thin line between truth and fiction.

  • OMG, the gorgeous Julie McNiven and her finance, Michael Beck.

I didn't know he was an actor?

  • nice one =)

  • Loved it. Only thing it was missing was one of the "actors" asking "How many miles of this cave are underground?". Or one of the survivors running straight into a wall screaming bloody murder then knocking themselves out cold. In any case, well done. (P.S. If someone had to explain to you this was not a real movie trailer, please do those of us who are cavers a favor and don't ask any of us to take you caving. Ever.)

  • Hey it's Pine Hill cave. That was my first experience with going in a big cave, and we almost got lost too. I can't wait to go back there this spring though.

    Cave softly

  • Hehehe - neat idea. Youtube-quality acting though: ) Wins points simply for being set in a real cave, as those are awesome!

  • neat ;)

  • Superb production - loved every second !
