Ray Surfing San Onofre 5/12/2008

Ray Long surfing 4-Doors San Onofre on his new board shaped by Terry Senate. The board is 9-2 and was shaped out of an ICE-9 CANE (a sugar-based foam) "green" blank. ICE-8 really makes some nice foam blanks; dense, flexible, and durable.

ive seen alot of videos with sharks here. are they common in San O?

There have been a few sightings, but that's about it. They have been more common this past year than ever before. Don't know why, there aren't alot of seals in this area of the beach. The water has been alittle warmer, but I doubt that has much to do with it.

san o's cool cause its got break speed of Do-ho but wave size of creek (most of the time).

Rocky Lewis at low tide. Not a good place to bodyboard in any case, waves are slow and you will get hit by a longboard. Try San Clemente Pier, better.

the first shark attack here at sanO happened about a month ago or two, farther down toward the power plant. not like in this area, but theyre known to come in that area. in fact i was surfing there today, and i was the only 1 in the water, and i mean only, no1 at churches, lowers, uppers, just me down at old mans, no1 was in the water becuz it was TERRIBLE! but still kinda scary when ure the only 1 out there in a 1 mile radius, and where it is a fact that 10 ft great white sharks hang out...
