The murder of tourist walker U.S. citizen Marty Layman-Mendonca in Scotland in 2006 by Colin Ross freed early from a three year jail sentence for attacking a German tourist.

The law is an ass but so are the royalist Members of the Scottish Parliament who support the courts and laws which the Queen as head of state is responsible for.

Also a wee complaint against President Bush for entertaining Prince Charles at the White House and thereby supporting royalist rule in Scotland.

@TheCelticknights It has a lot to do with the Queen whose ministers allowed this bastard out when he was known to be a danger to women. If anyone should fry it should be the Queen otherwise her ministers will go on letting dangerous criminals go free and instead locking up the Queen's political opponents who have dared to speak out to show up the royalist ministers and officers up for the stupid fascist scum they are.

I'm failing to see the connection between Prince Charles and a lax criminal justice system in Scotland. I seem to recall the Scottish Nationalist government releasing the convicted Lockerbie bomber on "compassionate" grounds to hero's welcome in Libya.

Not only is it nonsensical it's also in very poor taste to exploit a tragedy to make an irrelevant political argument . . . to say nothing of the blood-dripping graphics.

@borjon23 Actually it is having a kingdom and a monarchy which is nonsensical and medieval in the modern age when sensible countries have had revolutions or reform into republics.

It is very poor taste and extremely stupid to be in denial about the failure of the monarchy and thereby allow tragedy after tragedy with a state run by HM governments and Ministers, judges and officials of the crown who are royalist twits.

Some people are just wired defectively and will never be fully safe to return to society. The concept of civil commitment is highly controversial, but worthy of debate. I feel that anyone held under civil commitment after having served their primary sentence should not be kept at a prison. The proper venue for those civilly committed and voluntarily committed should be something more relaxed than a prison cell, but still gated.

Marty deserved better than the brutal fate she suffered,

Let's not forget that the English have been murdering particularly Highland Scottish people for centuries under the pretext of quelling rebellion against the Crown, a Crown which had, and has no right to claim authority over them. Case in point is the murder of 38 members of the MacDonalds of Glencoe, and that wasn't the only time it happened. Murder of defenceless people under trust, left handed politics and heavy-handed executive action - the story of English involvement in Scotland.

Put simply, the British empire is defunct and has disappeared into the mists of history, and so the English are doing their pathetic best to shore up at least the idea of their sacred "uninvaded for a 1000 years" island and preserve faith in the English monarchy presiding over a union of England, Ireland, Scotland and Wales, and are prepared to use pretty well any measure they deem necessary in order to preserve their outdated notions.

@ScottishStandard I didn't realise until doing some research recently just how influential the queen of England still is in Scottish politics, but I am now able to see why my Malcolm forebears left Scotland to travel to New Zealand. If pressed to give a point of view, I would say that there would be considerable interest in keeping English influence in Scotland and, thus, the likelyhood of ongoing corruption especially as regards democratic process.
